Technology in Operation
Tattoo ink and natural pigmentation like melanin rapidly absorb short pulses of high peak energy from Q-switched pulses, creating a photo-acoustic effect within pigment clusters. This effect facilitates the decomposition of ink into smaller particles, which can then be more easily removed by the body's natural filtering system.
What are Q-Switched Nd:YAG Lasers?
Q-Switched Nd:YAG lasers are highly effective devices for removing multi-colored tattoos. Tattoos are typically created by injecting colored pigment into small, deep holes in the skin, resulting in lasting shapes and designs. Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser systems, with multiple wavelengths (1064 nm, 532 nm, and optional 585 nm and 650 nm) and doubled-frequency KTP, produce very short pulses of laser light. These pulses pass harmlessly through the top layers of the skin and are selectively absorbed by specially treated pigment.
